MANHUNT (1984) Also known as: "Mad Dog." A young man buys two horses at an Arizona race track but fails to get a receipt. He escapes, is recaptured, and escapes again as he tries to locate the man who sold him the horses. This excellent crime thriller was cut by U.S. distributors upon initial release, as they deemed some of the footage too risky for American audiences. Ben Gazzara plays a police detective who goes undercover to bust an enormous opium smuggling ring. When he finds out where the goods are procured and how the opium is manufactured, he begins working his way up the ranks, to find out who's in charge of the organization. Also stars Silvia Monti, Fausto Tozzi, Malisa Logo, Jess Hahn, Jose Greci, and others. Directed by Ferdinando Baldi. Better quality than any of the other prints we've seen.
