MARIE CHANTAL VS. DR. KHA  (1965)  Claude Chabrol directs this obscure flick starring Marie LaForet as the title character, who is entrusted with a mysterious gem containing a virus powerful enough to destroy all mankind.  The mad Dr. Kha (played by Akim Tamiroff) is also out for the jewel, so look out.  Dubbed in French, with no subtitles.  (B-/C).

MASK OF THE KRIMINAL  (1968)  Also known as "Four Buddhas For The Kriminal."  Second entry in the super-criminal series starring Glenn Saxson.  Based on popular Italian comic strip.  Police inspector chases masked "villain."  Also stars Andrea Bosic, Helga Line, Frank Olivier, Ugo Sasso, and others.  Directed by Fernando Cerchio.  Letterboxed.  Dubbed in Italian, with English subtitles.  (A-/B).

MILLION EYES OF SUMURU, THE  (1967)  Frankie Avalon and George Nader play a pair of secret agents, whose enemy is Su-Muru (played by Shirley Eaton), a criminal mastermind who plans to remove all the men currently in power and replace them with her army of women, most of whom are shown in skimpy bikinis or mini skirts, and who can all perform complex tasks. MISSION: PHANTOM  (1965)  Here is an enjoyable spoof of the many international "caper" films of the 1960s, where a ragtag band of colorful characters from different countries and backgrounds are brought together to pull of some "impossible" heist in a well-guarded place with amazing security.  In this one, a gang of phony tourists infiltrate Russia as spies to steal valuable jewels.  Stars Eduardo Fajardo, Fernando Sancho, Ingrid Schoeller, Daniele Vargas, and Andrea Aureli.  Directed by Guido Malatesta.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B).

RETURN OF DR. MABUSE, THE  (1961)  Also known as: "F.B.I. Against Dr. Mabuse."  Just when he thought Mabuse was gone for good, Inspector Lohmann (played by Gert Frobe) is assigned to investigate a series of murders somehow connected to the death of an Interpol agent.  This leads him back on the trail of Dr. Mabuse.  Also starring Lex Barker, Daliah Lavi, Fausto Tozzi, and others.  Directed by Harald Reinl.  Dubbed in English.  (B/B-).

SATANIK  (1968)  Deformed, aged female scientist kills fellow scientist in order to steal formulae for rejuvenating cells and reversing the aging process. She takes it and turns into the beautiful, evil Satanik, who goes around, seducing and murdering wealthy businessmen.  Great 60's trash starring Magda Konopka, Umberto Raho, Nerio Bernardi, and others.  Directed by Piero Vivarelli.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B).

SCOTLAND YARD AGAINST DR. MABUSE  (1963)  The spirit of the evil Dr. Mabuse takes over the body of a famous professor. SEVEN GOLDEN MEN  (1965)  A group of master thieves headed by a criminal mastermind (played by Philippe Leroy) make a daring attempt to steal a fortune of gold from the supposedly impregnable Swiss Bank in Geneva.  Fast-moving fun that also stars Rossana Podesta, Gabriele Tinti, Giampiero Albertini, Maurice Poli, Manuel Zarzo, Ennio Balbo, and others.  Directed by Marco Vicario.  Dubbed in English.  (A/A-).

SHADOWMAN  (1974)  Original title: "Nuits Rouges."  We've obtained an excellent quality print of this elusive supercriminal action flick from director Georges Franju.  Shadowman, a thief whose head is covered by a red mask, and his cat-suited assistant, attempt to retrieve the fabled treasure of the ancient Knight Templars from a surviving sect in Paris.  Starring Gayle Hunnicutt, Jacques Champreux, Josephine Chaplin, and others.  Dubbed in English.  (A/A-).

SUPERARGO VS. DIABOLICUS  (1967)  Great cross between espionage and super-hero adventure.  Giovanni Cianfriglia stars as "Superargo," a bionic masked hero who is given a series of outrageously dangerous missions ending in infiltration of an internationally-based criminal operation headed by the evil Diabolicus (Gerard Tichy).  Also stars Monica Randall, Loredana Nusciak, Giulio Battiferri, and others.  Directed by Nick Nostro.  Dubbed in English.  (B/B-).

SUPER SNOOPER  (1980)  Also known as: "Poliziotto Superpiu'."  Cheesy but entertaining superhero film, which casts Terence Hill as a cop who finds he has super powers after being involved in a nuclear accident.  He uses his forces to nab a criminal organization (led by head honcho Marc Lawrence).  Also starring Ernest Borgnine, Joanne Dru, and others.  Directed by Sergio Corbucci.  Letterboxed.  Dubbed in English.  (A/A-).

TESTAMENT OF DR. MABUSE, THE  (1962)  Also known as: "The Terror of Dr. Mabuse."  Berlin police inspector Lohmann investigates a crime case in which all clues lead to a man who's been hospitalized for severe mental disorders.  Starring Gert Frobe, Senta Berger, Helmut Schmid, Charles Regnier, and others.  Directed by Werner Klingler.  Dubbed in English.  (A/A-).

THEFT OF THE MONA LISA  (1966)  Also known as: "Il Ladro della Gioconda."  Fun Euro comedy/caper film.  A master thief steals precious painting, unaware that other criminals are after it as well.  This leads them on a chase across Europe after the "Golden Boy" as they attempt to outwit him, and get the painting for themselves.  Stars George Chakiris, Margaret Lee, Mino Doro, Marina Vlady, Umberto D'Orsi, and others.  Directed by Michel Deville.  Straight from Greek pre-record.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (A/A-). 

THEY CAME TO ROB LAS VEGAS  (1968)  Original title: "Las Vegas, 500 Millones."   The ultimate heist film.  Tony plans to rob an armored truck owned by casino owner Skorsky (Lee J. Cobb), to avenge the death of his brother, who was killed while attempting a similar caper. He pulls off the scheme with help from Cobb's secretary (Elke Sommer), but he soon learns that government agents are after the same truck because it's being used to smuggle goods into Mexico.  Great crime/action sizzler also starring Gary Lockwood, Jack Palance, and Jean Servais.  Directed by Antonio Isassi.  Transferred from a 16mm print, this is the uncut version which runs approximately 127 minutes.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B).

THREE FANTASTIC SUPERMEN  (1967)  Classic action trash, and the first entry in a long-running series.  Three costumed supermen battle a mad scientist who's got his hands on a top-secret duplication device.  The device allows its operator to copy anything, from dollar bills to hitmen.  Stars Brad Harris, Tony Kendall, Nick Jordan, Sabine Sun, Carlo Tamberlani, and others.  Directed by Gianfranco Parolini.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (A-/B).

THREE FANTASTIC SUPERMEN IN THE JUNGLE  (1970)  Another entry in the popular "Three Fantastic Supermen" series from Italy.  Three superheroes attempt to reclaim the stolen lease of a uranium mine.  But they must first battle Russian scientists who plan to exploit the natives.  Starring Brad Harris, George Martin, Sal Borgese, Femi Benussi, Pasquale Simeoni, and others.  Directed by Bitto Albertini.  Dubbed in English.  (B/B-).

THREE FANTASTIC SUPERMEN IN THE ORIENT  (1974)  Original title: "Crash Che Botte!"  Another entry in the "Three Fantastic Supermen" series, this one is an Italian-Hong Kong co-production, which features some stunts performed by Jackie Chan.  Starring Robert Malcolm, Antonio Cantafora, Sal Borgese, Alberto Farnese, and others.  Directed by Bitto Albertini.  Dubbed in English, with Spanish subtitles.  (B/B-).

THREE SUPERBOYS IN THE SNOW  (1981)  Also known as: "Mettetemi in Galera."  Alberto Dell'Acqua returns in this Turko-Italian action film, a continental take-off of the "Three Fantastic Supermen" films.  Three wiseass troublemakers are out to cheat a mob boss and his associates of a million dollars.  Also starring Tarik Akan, John Gordon, Harry Goldman, Nick Cagney, and others.  Directed by Natuck Baitan and Ernst Hofbauer.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (B/B-).

THREE SUPERGUYS STRIKE AGAIN  (1976)  Also known as: "Che Carambole... Ragazzi."  Rare Turko-Italian action starring the team of Alberto Dell'Acqua, Cuneyt Arkin, and Jim Gordon as three troublemakers who specialize in pulling heists together. This time, they rob the Godfather of two million dollars, and are chased all across Europe by henchmen and irate women.  Also stars Franca Gonella, Helen Christie, and others.  Directed by Ernst Hofbauer.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (B/B-).

THREE SUPERMEN AND A MAD GIRL  (1973)  Original title: "Cilgin Kiz Ve Uc Super Adam."  Insane Turkish superhero film.  Mad Girl is trying to take over the world. She works for another villain who's dressed in red and wears a devil mask. Aiding her in her attempt at world domination is a band of men in green satin Klansman's robes.  Plot is unintelligible.  Levent Cakir, Altan Bozkurt, Yesim Yukselen.  Dubbed in Turkish, with no subtitles.  (B-/C).

THREE SUPERMEN AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES  (1984)  Original title: "3 Supermen Olimpiyatlarda."  Incredibly low-budget entry in the "Three Fantastic Supermen" series, this one features a predominantly Turkish cast.  Our friends now battle an alien criminal organization trying to sabotage the Olympics.  The aliens come complete with rubber masks, and duke it out to a cheesy soundtrack.  Stars Yilmaz Koksal, Levent Cakir, Stefano Martinenghi, Filiz Ozten, and others.  Directed by Italo Martinenghi.  Dubbed in Turkish, with no subtitles.  (B-/C).

VENGEANCE OF DR. MABUSE, THE  (1972)  Original title: "La Venganza del Dr. Mabuse."  Doctor Mabuse strikes again in this beautifully-shot movie made by Jess Franco at the height of his career. This one has about everything you can expect from a Spanish late night masterpiece: the evil doctor and his mindless Frankenstein-like monster, Monica Swinn as the evil sidekick, a cameo by a screaming and cigar smoking Franco, and more.  Dubbed in Spanish, with no subtitles.  (A-/B).
