KILINK IN ISTANBUL  (1967)  Inspired by the Italian comic strip (Fumetti) Kriminal, Turkish producers created this outrageous series. In this film, Kilinik is a master villain who wears a skeleton-bone suit topped with a skull mask. He is also a master of disguise, and leads a large criminal underworld base where he plans his crimes. Cool stunts, fiery fights, and damsels-in-distress all contribute to making this film of interest to serial buffs as well.  Directed by Yilmaz Atadeniz.  Upgrade!!  Dubbed in Turkish, with no subtitles.   (A-/B).

KILL!   (1971)  Also known as: "Police Magnum."  Ex-Interpol agent turned assassin tries to wipe out porn merchants and drug dealers in Pakistan.  High-octane crime flick starring Stephen Boyd, James Mason, Curd Jurgens, Jean Seberg, and others.  Directed by Romain Gary.  (A/A-).

KILL AND PRAY  (1967)  Also known as: "Let Them Rest."  Excellent spaghetti western featuring Lou Castel as a gunman who teams up with a priest (played by Pier Paolo Pasolini) to exact justice on a villain (played by Mark Damon) harassing the frontier.  Also starring Barbra Frey, Rossana Krisman, and others.  Directed by Carlo LIzzani.  Dubbed in English.  (A/A-).

KILL THE FATTED CALF AND ROAST IT  (1970)  Original title: "Uccidete il Vitello Grasso e Arrostitelo."  Director Salvatore Samperi spins more madness in this giallo concerning a young man who has an obsession with his older sister.  When his older brother (played by Jean Sorel) finds out, he plots to have him killed.  Also starring Marilu Tolo, Giggi Ballista, and others.  Letterboxed.  Dubbed in Italian, with no subtitles.  (B/B-).

KILL JOHNNY RINGO  (1966)  Original title: "Uccidete Johnny Ringo."  Texas Ranger Johnny Ringo (Brett Halsey) is sent to investigate and expose a counterfeiting ring in the town of Eagle Pass, following the theft of plates from the Federal Bank. The town is owned by Jackson (Angelo Dessy) who, along with his gang of hoods and other respected townsfolk, is responsible for this counterfeiting operation.  Directed by Gianfranco Baldanello.  Dubbed in English, with Dutch subtitles.  (A-/B). 

KILL ME GENTLY  (1967)  Also known as: "Kommissar X: The Green Hound."  Cool 60's spy/espionage thriller, features the team of Joe Walker and Captain Rowland (Tony Kendall and Brad Harris) going to Istanbul to nab an international drug conspiracy.  The criminals plan to steal large supplies of pure LSD and contaminate the world's water supply.  Also starring Olga Schoberova, Christa Linder, Dietmar Schonherr, Sabine Sun, Carlo Tamberlani, and others.  Directed by Rudolf Zehetgruber and Gianfranco Parolini.  Dubbed in English, with Dutch subtitles.  (A-/B).

KILLER ADIOS  (1968)  Original title: "Winchester, Uno Entre Mil."  Peter Lee Lawrence plays a gunman who returns to his home town after many years, after being convicted of murder.  He is commissioned by the town boss to clean out a dangerous group of bank robbers.  Also starring Eduardo Fajardo, Armando Calvo, Rosalba Neri, and others.  Directed by Primo Zeglio.  Dubbed in English.  (B/B-). 

KILLER COP  (1974)  Original title: "La Polizia Ha Le Mani Legate."  Great crime drama from director Luciano Ercoli.  Arthur Kennedy plays a judge hired to investigate a string of terrorist bombings.  At the same time, Claudio Cassinelli, a narcotics detective, begins to tackle the investigation on his own, aware of evidence the judge doesn't know.  The suspense rises to a climax as Cassinelli narrows in on the killer.  Also stars Sara Sperati, Bruno Zanin, Franco Fabrizi, and others.  Letterboxed at 1.78:1.  Dubbed in English.  (B/B-).

KILLER IS STILL AMONG US  (1986)  Original title: "L'Assassino e Ancora Tra Noi."  Violent giallo, which is based on some unsolved murders in Florence.  A criminology student decides to write her thesis about a mysterious serial killer terrorizing couples in lover's lane.  As she starts searching around, she gets obscene phone calls.  Is the killer her boyfriend, or someone else?  Stars Francesco Capitano, Mariangela D'Abbraccio, and others.  Directed by Camillo Teti.  Dubbed in Italian, with no subtitles.  (A-/B).

KILLER RESERVED NINE SEATS  (1974)  Original title: "L'Assassino Ha Riservato Nove Poltrone."  This violent giallo traps nine adults who are connected with each other in a particular way (e.g. by blood, intrigue or rivalry) in an abandoned theatre. Needless to say, one by one falls victim to a masked killer who seems to have staged their unplanned meeting in the old building, where 100 years before terrible murders had happened.  Starring Cristea Avram, Rossana Schiaffino, Lucretia Love, and others.  Directed by Giuseppe Bennati.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (B/B-).

KILLER WITH 1000 EYES  (1974)  Also known as: "Quel Ficcanaso dell'Ispettore Lawrence."  Excellent crime/giallo hybrid from Spain, which casts Antonio de Teffe' as a police investigator assigned to track down the murderer of an Interpol agent.  He heads to Lisbon, to track the criminal organization responsible for the crime.  However, the murderer keeps knocking off more individuals, and de Teffe' (here billed as Anthony Steffen) finds himself one of the main suspects.  Also starring Raf Baldassarre, Eduardo Fajardo, Julian Ugarte, and others.  Directed by Juan Bosch.  Dubbed in English, with Dutch subtitles.  (B/B-). 

KILLER WORE GLOVES, THE  (1974)  Original title: "La Muerte Llama a las Diez."  Nicely done giallo from director Juan Bosch, involving an inheritance plot gone bad.  Starring Gillian Hills, Angel del Pozo, Orchidea de Santis, Silvia Solar, and others.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (A-/B). 

KILLERS ARE CHALLENGED  (1965)  Original title: "Le Spie Uccidono A Beirut." Here's another great sixties spy film appearing in English for the first time. Dr. Coleman has discovered an alternative source of energy and agent Bob Fleming (Richard Harrison) has been assigned to impersonate him in order to locate the group out to kill him (Gee it wouldn't be that Texas Oil Millionaire would it?). The bad guys are led by Janine (SUCCUBUS) Reynaud who uses any method (including taking the lash to beautiful Wandisa Guida) to get the secret formula.  Dominique Boschero, Luciano Pigozzi, and Aldo Cecconi, also star.  Directed by Luciano Martino.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (A-/B).

KINDAR THE INVULNERABLE  (1964)  An evil desert bandit kidnaps the son of a sultan and raises him as his own. It turns out that the son has magic powers and is invincible. Years later, as a young man, he falls in love with a woman and is preparing to raid a village--when he finds out that the woman is actually his brother's fiancé and the village belongs to his real father.  Stars Kirk Morris, Mimmo Palmara, and Rosalba Neri.  Directed by Osvaldo Civirani.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B).

KING OF KONG ISLAND  (1968)  Also known as: "Eva, La Venere Selvaggia." A group of mad scientists travel to Kong Island where they implant receptors into the brains of gorillas planning to create a gorilla war for world domination. KING'S JESTER, THE  (1941)  Original title: "Il Re Si Diverte."  English-subtitled print of this scarce costume drama based on the 'Rigoletto' story.  Michel Simon stars as a hunchbacked jester in the court of a lecherous king (played by Rossano Brazzi).  Favorite actress of Mussolini's fascist regime, Doris Duranti, performs a deliciously vampy dance as the prostitute Margot-Maddalena.  Also stars Paola Barbara, Elli Parvo, Carlo Ninchi, and others. Mario Bonnard directed this true gem from the Italian fascist era.  Dubbed in Italian, with English subtitles.  (B/B-).

KISS THE GIRLS AND MAKE THEM DIE  (1966)  Original title: "Se Tutte le Donne del Mondo."  Secret agent (played by Mike Connors) is sent to Rio to tackle a criminal underworld boss (Raf Vallone) in this tongue-in-cheek espionage sizzler also starring Margaret Lee, Nicoletta Machiavelli, Marilu Tolo, Seyna Seyn, and others.  Directed by Henry Levin and Arduino Maiuri.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B).

KISS KISS, KILL KILL  (1965)  Original title: "Kommissar X: Jagd Auf Unbekannt."  Tony Kendall, Brad Harris, and Maria Perschy, star in this spy/espionage adventure. Interpol agent Captain Rowland and his private eye/ soldier of fortune partner Joe Walker investigate deaths of politicos and scientist in the Mediterranean. KLEINHOFF HOTEL  (1977)  Pascale (Corinne Clery), married to an architect, misses her flight to London and is forced to stay in Berlin, at the Kleinhoff Hotel where she stayed as a student. Karl, a would-be revolutionary lives in the adjoining room and Pascale spies him and his ex-girl-friend through a hole. Then she follows him to a questionable place where she is arrested by the police during a revolutionists raid. When she returns to the Kleinhoff Hotel, Pascale finds Karl crying, and enters his room to console him and they have a love affair. LADYKILLER OF ROME  (1961)  Original title: "L'Assassino."  Early giallo/crime film.  A socialite is murdered, and her playboy lover (Marcello Mastroianni) is brought in for questioning. During his stay in custody, we get to see (via flashback) the real playboy in action. Is he guilty, or just a sleazeball? A cleverly constructed and effectively made film also starring Micheline Presle, Cristina Gaioni, Andrea Checchi, Salvo Randone, and others.  Directed by Elio Petri.  Dubbed in Italian, with no subtitles.  (A/A-).

LARSEN, WOLF OF THE SEVEN SEAS  (1975)  Also known as: "The Legend of Sea Wolf."  Chuck Connors stars as Wolf Larsen, a sadistic whaling captain who obtains help aboard his ship by threats and intimidation.  Humphrey Van Weyden (Giuseppe Pambieri) is kidnapped and forced to serve on Larsen's ship, and develops a strange bond with the captain, not, however, without being sickened by his various acts of cold and inhuman cruelty.  A nice ocean adventure which also stars Barbara Bach, Rik Battaglia, Lars Bloch, Luciano Pigozzi, and Maurice Poli.  Directed by Giuseppe Vari.  Dubbed in English.  Upgrade!!  (A-/B).

LAST MATCH, THE  (1990)  Original title: "L'Ultima Partita."  Action/adventure from director Fabrizio De Angelis.  On an island in the Caribbean a girl is imprisoned for drug-possession. LE MANS, SHORTCUT TO HELL  (1970)  Original title: "Scorciatoia Per L'Inferno."  Lang Jeffries, Edwige Fenech, Erna Schurer, Maurizio Bonuglia, Franco Pesce, Marcello Di Paolo, and Roberto Messina, star in this action-packed film which takes place on the race-track.  Jeffries plays a hard-racing driver suffering from fatigue.  His wife (Schurer) wants him out of the game, but when a competitor starts inching in on his territory, he finds he must give it his all to remain number one.  Directed by Osvaldo Civirani.  Dubbed in English, with Spanish subtitles.  (A-/B).

LIANE, THE JUNGLE GODDESS  (1956)  An expedition discovers blonde 16 year-old Liane venerated by the native tribe in the African jungle and returns her to Hamburg where she is welcomed by her grandfather, ship tycoon Von Amelongen. His nephew Schoening, present head of the firm and prospective heir, tries all to stop his uncle from acknowledging her, including perjury, destruction of evidence, and finally resorting to murder. He dies in an accident driving his car into the river in his flight from the police. There is a subplot around a love quadrangle centered around Thoren, who is secretly loved by biologist Jacqueline who is in turn courted by Hungarian Tibor. Thoren plays paternal protector to Liane before succumbing to her youthful charm and returning with her to the jungle.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B).

LOVES OF SALAMMBO, THE  (1960)  Sergio Grieco directed this lush costume sudser.  The Carthaginians leaders renege on their promises to pay mercenaries for their part in the war against Rome.  Inflamed at their treachery, Mathos (played by Jacques Sernas) steals the sacred holy veil from the temple of Tanit, thus hoping to break Carthage into submission.  However, he falls in love with the temple's priestess (Jeanne Valerie) and is torn between conflicting emotions.  Meanwhile, General Hamilcar is sent by Carthage to destroy the mercenaries.  Also starring Edmund Purdom, Riccardo Garrone, and Arnoldo Foa.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B). 

LOVES OF THREE QUEENS  (1954)  Original title: "L'Amante di Paride."  Directors Marc Allegret and Edgar G. Ulmer team up to create this nice costume adventure starring Hedy Lamarr, Massimo Serato, Milly Vitale, Cesare Danova, and others.  Dubbed in English.  (B/B-).

LSD INFERNO: HELL FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE  (1967)  Original title: "Inferno per Pocchi Dollari."  Guy Madison plays a secret agent sent to tackle a massive conspiracy to poison the world with large supplies of LSD.  A very far-out and unusual Euro-spy entry also starring Franca Polesello, Mario Valgoi, Lucio De Santis, and others.  Directed by Massimo Mida.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (B/B-).

LUANA, DAUGHTER OF THE JUNGLE  (1968)  Rare jungle outing from director Roberto Infascelli.  Glenn Saxson plays an African explorer who joins up with a lovely female to discover the mystery behind a certain exotic drug.  While in the jungles, they discover an illegal narcotics operation, and a giant carnivorous plant that devours the natives!  Meanwhile, they must avoid the treachery of a criminal mastermind who has joined the expedition.  Evi Marandi, Pietro Tordi, Raf Baldassarre.  Dubbed in English.  Upgrade!!  (A-/B).

LUCKY THE INSCRUTABLE

LUCKY JOHNNY  (1975)  Original title: "Arde, Baby, Arde."  Spaghetti western starring Glenn Lee, Venetia Vianello, James Westerfield, and others.  Lucky Johnny (as a child) is rescued by an undertaker just as a rattlesnake is about to pounce. The two of them go about their ghoulish business until they decide it's time to strike it rich. There are two intriguing subplots involving a pair of down on their luck stage robbers and a black cavalryman who is victimized by greedy bounty hunters.  Directed by Jose Bolanos.  Dubbed in English.  (A/A-). 

LUCREZIA BORGIA  (1968)  Fabrizio Aldobrande (Gianni Garko), a bitter enemy of Cesare Borgia (Lou Castel), becomes the unsuspecting lover of his sister Lucretia (Olga Schoberova).  An extremely scarce adventure which also stars Nina Sandt, Franco Ressel, and Giovanni Ivan Scratuglia.  Directed by Osvaldo Civirani.  Dubbed in Italian, with no subtitles.  (B/B-).

LURE OF THE SILA  (1949)  Original title: "Il Lupo della Sila."  Nicely done crime/drama tale from director Duilio Coletti.  Man is accused and convicted of a crime he didn't commit.  Years later, his sister seeks revenge for his murder by the police.  Starring Silvana Mangano, Amedeo Nazzari, Vittorio Gassman, Jacques Sernas, and others.  Dubbed in English.  (A-/B).

LYNCHING  (1968)  Also known as: "If One is Born a Swine... Kill Him."  Alfonso Brescia directs this spaghetti western, which involves squatters and landowners battling it out in a small town.  Glenn Saxson plays the Federal Marshal sent to straighten things out, while Gordon Mitchell appears as a gunslingin' bully hired by the ranchers to make the Marshal act in their interest.  Also starring Philippe Hersent, Renato Baldini, Spartaco Conversi, and others.  Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles.  (A/A-).
