VENUS IN FURS (1969) A surprisingly good movie version of Sacher-Masoch's erotic classic of obsessive love. Updated to the present, which is obviously the 60s, director Massimo Dallamano (also responsible for the Helmut Berger 'Dorian Gray') manages to be quite faithful to the original story, and setting it in swinging Europe works very well. The beautiful Laura Antonelli (Fulci's 'The Eroticist') is well cast as the sensuous Wanda who is urged by her masochistic husband Severin (Regis Vallee) on to greater and greater heights of betrayal and sadistic game playing. But the others find out about this and want to see what's so great with "johnsonning". After they all force Filli to show them the game too, she manages to flee with Ulli. Other questionable methods are used, to get more sensationalist material for his film. He goes to a monastery where they whip drug addicts in order to cure their cravings. He pays them a lot of money to make sure they put on a good show, and the beatings that the crew film, are far more severe than usual. WITCHCRAFT '70 (1970) A mondo style report of satanic rites from around the world. Includes devil worshipping, voodoo cults, church of Satan, black magic, naked exorcism and pagan rituals. This exploitative documentary is certainly dated, and feeds to the believe that witches and Satanists are pretty much the same thing, which I know will irritate and offend all the pagans out there. It even has Anton LeVey and has some footage of his rituals and stuff. There is lots of nudity at black masses, but it stops short of showing anything to sexual. Good for a watch, if even only for the Hippie campfire cult footage... Dubbed in English. (B/B-).

WOMEN OF THE WORLD (1963) This "Mondo" movie is centered around women. The film takes us around the world and we are shown a lot of pretty bizarre stuff. Directed by Paolo Cavara, Gualtiero Jacopetti, and Franco E. Prosperi. Dubbed in English. (B/B-).
WOMEN'S CAMP 119 (1977) One of the stronger Nazi exploitation films out there, Bruno Mattei directed this one. A prisoner (Lorraine De Salle) is forced to serve as a doctor's assistant, giving her a front row seat for the horrible goings-on. There's the experiment to revive Nazi soldiers who have frozen to death by having nude women rub their bodies all over the corpse (that one works), and the experiment tries to "cure" homosexual men by having nude women dance for them. This is only some of the horrors that are going on there. Dubbed in English, with Dutch subtitles. (B/B-).

In the prison, the inmates are constantly humiliated and tortured by the prison staff. Overly affectionate prisoners are forced underwater, while others are obliged to look on. Emanuelle finds an enemy in the deranged Albina, who "runs the prison." For the pleasure of the warden, Emanuelle and Albina are forced to fight each other with knives. This is a comedy vehicle for Italian funny man Lando Buzzanca, but of most interest for its offbeat humor, and a nice and very substantial cameo from John Steiner as the gay Romanian vampire called Count Dragulescu, it is he who puts the bite on the hapless Buzzanca. Sylva Koscina looks good, Rossano Brazzi is wasted, and the rest of cast performs admirably. Also stars Moira Orfei, Ciccio Ingrassa, Valentina Cortese, and others. Dubbed in English, with Greek subtitles. (B/B-).
